Designer Affair is operated by 25 year-old student and solo mother, Jacqui. Founded in 2015 and formerly known as Rent For A Cure, the business came about after years of friends, and friends of friends, borrowing my clothes. A push from my best friend was enough for me to give the rental business a go, now that I was a stay at home mum.
I work full-time in a Health and Safety role within a large corporate company. I am also completing my Bachelor of Business in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations via correspondence with Massey.
Outside of motherhood, work and study I am heavily involved in community netball, both playing and coaching, with 4 teams on my rotation in the 2021 season.
Renting is something I am passionate about, as it encourages circular fashion and reducing the amount of garment waste that end up in landfill each year from fast-fashion and from purchases people only wear once. All rentals are shipped in compostable R3pack mailers, contain a degradable cardboard return card and have no other ugly packaging. As consumers you have the power to decide the future of the fashion industry and encourage more eco-conscious shopping from your peers. Your consumer dollar is your voice, I encourage you to use it to support businesses, and the people behind them, who have business practices and values that align with your own.
Support small, shop local, reduce waste, look great every time and know you're making a difference with each outfit.
